(Our rule is no criticizing the spelling of
the recorder!) |
In our first night of the series on
Adolescent Sexuality, we made a list of words that are often uncomfortable
to say, but necessary to talk about sexuality. The actual list is on
the left.
The first impediment to talking about
sexuality is to get past the vocabulary--even when it's uncomfortable or
embarrassing. And no slang allowed! Slang is a way of avoiding
the real words...like peepee for a penis. Slang sends the message that
we are unable, or unwilling, to really talk.
Our second night is science night.
Facts about sexuality, reproduction, risks and protection. We'll find out just what a "dental
dam" is and
how it's used! What is
HPV and what, exactly, is
normal!?
On our third night, Feb 13, we'll be
talking about stages of adolescent development: sexual, physical,
moral, psychological and spiritual. Answering the question: " What's
Normal?"
